Coriolis – The Third Horizon is a science fiction tabletop role playing game set in a remote cluster of star systems called The Third Horizon. It is a place ravaged by conflicts and war, but also home to proud civilisations, both new and old. (Source: Free League Publishing)
A friend, who is the game master of a Coriolis Campaign asked me to create them a nail set which captures and represents the asthetic and elements of this game. Within the game there is a broad concept of light and darkness, which balance each other out and are always in opposition with one another, so my idea was to create one Light Hand and one Darkness Hand with colors and themes reflecting this dichotomy.
Below were a few of the Moods I used to create the Set:
Here were the Notes I made for the concept:
- General colors: Black, Gold
- One hand warm and brighter colors representing the Light
- Other hand darker, colder, deep blues representing Darkness
- Materials: Splotchy, Iridescent, Metallics, rougher?
- Metal flakes, layered with paint
- Floral, Oriental Patterns bordering on Victorian
- Space nails: stars in background as specks, glitter, …
- Thumbs – Motive Nails
- Light: Spacecraft infront of Sun
- Darkness: Eclipse -> evolved into Black Hole
- Index: Starchart geometric pattern
